This painting was birthday gift for my aunt. I was going for a rapid/raw style, and I didn't try to cover everything with paint (evidently), nor did I prep the canvas. I just went straight into color without sketching anything, so the final product is totally improvised. It has an unfinished look to it, but I happen to like the rawness for some reason. Even though it's acrylic, I didn't really wait for the paint to dry before stick on a new layer or color. It took about half an hour from start to finish. It's on an 8 x 10 in canvas. The clouds were a chance experiment that I think turned out to be the coolest part of painting this. I was originally going to try to leave areas of the sky blank and let the white canvas be the clouds, but I ended up painting the whole sky area blue. Then, I went in and dabbed white paint on top of the still-slightly-wet blue sky. Before the white paint had totally dried, though, I took a paper towel and wiped it straight off, which apparently left soft, wispy-looking white shapes on the blue sky--rad!
Overall, I'm happy with how this painting turned out! Till next time! Cheers, Clem
